Anthem Receivers vs Marantz Pre/Pro

Hello, was looking at a few options. I was looking at either getting the Marantz Pre/Pro setup (AV7005 and 7055) or going with the Anthem MRX700. It would be pushing a surround sound system consisting of Paradigm Studio Series Speakers. Is there any better benefit with going with one more than the other? Will one produce better sound quality or push the speakers better than another? Both are pretty much the same price point.

Any input is appreciated

Thanks!

Marantz SR-7005 (similar to AV-7005?):

THD: 0.016%
Crosstalk: –77.20 dB left to right and –76.63 dB right to left.
SNR: –98.00 dBrA.

Anthem MRX 700:

THD: 0.023%
Crosstalk: –73.01 dB left to right and –72.06 dB right to left.
SNR: –104.67 dBrA.

I hope the newer Anthem Pre-pros have better numbers than the $2,000 Anthem receiver.

I don't know about "HUM" noise on the Anthem, but the Marantz has some issues with hum noise.

I would take the Anthem over the Marantz based on their ARC room correction which is better still than the Audessy MultiEQ based on posts I've seen and tests I've read.

The 7005 doesn't use MultEQ, it uses MultEQ XT, though I don't know if your research still would lead to the same conclusion or not. FWIW, it's not a small difference, as it is up to an 800% increase in filter resolution between these two techs. Of course if he was willing to consider Denon or Onkyo, he could go up to the XT32, and if willing to buy a pro kit (or hire someone), he could land a Audyssey Pro capable unit.

I have no hum issue with mine and I am quite satisfy with the 7005 so far. That being said, if I were to stick with AVR, I would have grabbed the 4310 or 4311 instead. I see no point paying more and get less going with Anthem but we all have our preferences, that's why there are so many different brands and they all survive.:D

FWIW means what?

For what it's worth. (A quick google would have told you that.)

It appears I have used this acronym in at least 205 posts so far at AH. :D

Hm, maybe another relatively mysterious one I use a lot is AFAIK. (As far as I know.)

I believe Warp uses Anthem and he found arc to be better than Audessy but which Audessy he was reffering to , I do not know. Here 's an interesting read..

http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/surround-sound-processors/343-a-secrets-ssp-review.html?start=3

There's also a mention of it in the review of Anthem's MRX700 in Home Theater Review but they haven't posted that review on the web yet. Again teh reviewr didn't specify which Auddesy he was comparing.
I read both as I subscribe to HTM. Actually for $2000 listed, it is quite competitive. The comments I made earlier was based on assuming a higher price. If I remember correctly HTM did rate the SR7005 5 stars except in one category and the video of the Anthem not as good but between the two if the price different is only a few hundred bucks I may take the Anthem too. I like Audyssey though, not sure about the Anthem one.
