Anthem MRX 720 or Anthem AVM 60

Hi,
I currently am using a Marantz SR5010 as my 7 channel processor and Emotiva XPA-5 Gen 3 powering five ear-level speakers and Emotiva BasX A800 powering two height channels. The speakers that I use are Monitor Audio Silver 6 [Front Left and Right], Monitor Audio Silver Centre and Monitor Audio Bronze FX for surround channels. The atmos are handled by SVS Prime Elevation speakers and bass is handled by SVS SB4000 subwoofer. The entire setup is in the living room and we live in an apartment in Dubai. I use Apple TV for streaming content. I play my 4K Blu-Ray rips using Infuse application on Apple TV. The Apple TV and NAS are connected through ethernet. I feel the system could sound better and the bass far less bloated. I also wanted to add two more atmos speakers for my rear walls and 1 more SVS SB4000 subwoofer.

Hence thought would upgrade to a better processor / AVR. I have heard good reviews about Anthem products even by Audioholics. My AVR and amplifiers are placed on my TV bench and I use 1 meter RCA cables for connecting them. I need feedback on whether I should buy an Anthem MRX 720 or Anthem AVM 60. The MRX is cheaper and does 11.2 channel processing. The difference in pricing between both the products is approx USD 900 in Dubai. I can use the difference for investing in a pair of SVS Prime Elevation speakers and SVS SB4000 subwoofer. I need your advice.

Would I get better performance if I buy the Anthem AVM 60 considering my setup? I am willing to spend extra money if it would considerably improve the processing.

Just posted this in another thread about an Anthem unit (where it is failing) https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/review-and-measurements-of-anthem-mrx-520-avr.8961/ ....believe they have reviewed a few other Anthem units so you might look around a bit there. I doubt there's significant difference in processing among their units, tho.

I doubt you'd hear anything particularly different from your current unit, except the differences between their different eq/dsp software (Anthem Room Correction vs AudysseyXT if you use such and if that may be worth it to you to change). Personally I don't buy into Anthem being superior generally (altho Anthem Room Correction generally gets good remarks), and their pricing is higher than equivalent units from the likes of Yamaha/Denon/Marantz as they aren't able to take advantage of economies of scale as well.

The audio issues you describe could be due a variety of things, perhaps speaker, sub integration or even sub placement/room modes, which a second sub could help resolve; I'd probably get the second sub and see how much that improves your setup first. Sound quality primarily resides in the speakers rather than the electronics.

I would go with the AVM 60. Tons of great reviews of that unit online. And you’re in luck right now because Anthem has it on sale!

I think the AVM60 might have better measurement/specs, but the actual audible SQ improvement would be exactly 0.00%. :D

But if I were to choose between an AVR vs AVP, I would personally choose the AVP for my main system and AVR for my other systems. For example, I have the Yamaha CX-A5100 AVP for my main HT system and the Yamaha RX-A3080 AVR for my living room. The reason isn’t about SQ.
