Anthem D1 vs older Counterpoint pre

Hi,

Sorry if this is too much of a newbie question....
I've been out of "upgrading" my system for quite some time. I currently have a Counterpoint SA-1000 pre-amp (hybrid) hooked up to a Adcom GFA 555II and driving a set of modified PSB Stratus Golds.
My Counterpoint needs some work and I was thinking about taking the opportunity to upgrade it (and unify my Audio and Video stuff).
A friend owns a stereo shop which is unfortunately a few states away. He has a Statement D1 he's trying to talk me into. The problem is that I can't find one locally to borrow and listen to with my system (and I'd hate to do that if I am not buying from that shop anyway). And I don't want to ask him to ship it to me for just a test drive.
I know the D1 get glowing reviews but I am wondering if anyone has an educated guess on how it would compare to the Counterpoint pre-amp I currently have? My main listening is Classical and Jazz with some rock tossed in from time to time and the input would be from DVD/CD (sold my table some time ago so the phono stage is not an issue). I am currently only worried about a 2 channel audio comparison.

TIA

Mike

d1 statement

I too have been considering Anthem. However, looking at the AVM 30 or 40.
Have listen to the AVM 30 but not the D1.
Sorry can't comment on your comparison.

What are the prices in your area and where on this equipment?
