FramerPDX,

The on-screen display won't overlay HD signals passed via HDMI or component. If you are upconverting your television signal, it won't be able to display the volume indicator.

Easiest way to see this is, when you go into the setup menu, does your display change (as in loose sync) for a few seconds?

If so, that's the issue.

On screen info

I have the same wish. Since my receiver is in a remote location I can't see what AV program I'm in either. So I set up a S/video cable from the cable box to the receiver and installed it in an unused component like VCR 2. If I want to check where I am, I hit the VCR 2 select button on the receiver remote and I get a low def screen with the info on it. Then I just go back and hit my Cable button.

Hi,

not sure whether it's gonna work, but why not trying to run a composite and/or S-Video cable straight out from receiver's TV monitor, to the TV's monitor in??
As you can not overlay OSD thru HDMI, perhaps the ol' fashioned way might work (there's gonna be one more cable though..).
Would like to know whether that is possible.

Cheers / Avliner
