I've read many post here and elsewhere. but I'm still looking for other thoughts.

the contenders:

NAD T753
Onkyo TX SR601
HK AVR 525
Denon AVR2803
Marantz SR5400

the problem with all except the Denon (and perhaps the Onk) is the lack of phono pre. I have many friends in vinyl I wish to visit.

I've had very positive experience with HK in the past. I've heard good things about the Onk, Denon, and NAD from installers I know.

The big difficulty in doing an audition is finding a deal who stocks any 3 let alone the whole list. In spite of the fact I'm in the NYC area.

Hi. For what it's worth, i bought the NAD T763 last December and love it. They also make a very good quality phono pre for around 120.00 or so.

hi Mike.

were you able to compare it to any others or was there a reason you went with the NAD?

Hi. I went with the NAD based on past experience. I've had a NAD stereo power amp and preamp for a while (older) and absolutely loved the sound. Gobs of power. The NAD receiver was not my first choice. I wanted to go with multichannel separates but alas...could not afford it so i went with the "higher-end" receiver instead.

A friend of mine has a Denon 2802 and i can't say i care for it much...he was trying to talk me into buying one but i just don't care for them. So much of this is subjective anyways.

Anybody have any experience or insight in comparisons between the NAD T763 and the Yamaha 2400? I realize this can definitely be a matter of preference but with the 2400 problems I am having I want to consider all alternatives since I'm going to be swapping it for a new one.

For reference I have Paradigm Monitor 7 Fronts, center CC-350, and Atoms and Titans for rears and surrounds. I also use my system primarily for Home Theatre versus music...baout an 80% HT/ 20% Music split.

I have also seen some posts about the power rating so NAD versus others such as Yamaha being misleading...in that while the spec. shows the NAD to have LESS power it isn't actually less powerful as Yamaha uses some "skewed" information in their power rating. I'm making this statement from past memory and not saying this to be the case before anyone wants to blast me.

Just wondering if anybody has any insight on this?? Thanks.
