After reading/watching instructional material on REW made my first set of measurements. Only one position just trying to make sure I am interpreting results correctly first. The picture below shows my set up. Focus SE with REL connected via high level. Without running any measurements I can tell that the left speaker/sub has some sort of large LF resonance/boundary impact with the hallway to the left. I can stand back there, feel the bass feel stuff rattle at moderate volumes. The right side seems to just dump into the vast empty space of a bedroom. When I run odyssey it corrects for this LF response on the left speaker.
My measurements were run without audyssey. Used smoothing etc. The left speaker was run first (red line) WITHOUT the subwoofer. The second measurement was run on the left speaker (blue line) with sub on, crossed over at 60 Hz. The right speaker was run same manner (green without sub). Somewhat surprising how differently the L/R subs interact with room. I know sub placement is an issue but did not expect the right side response. No chance at moving subs due to WAF.
I think my analysis is: 1) the left sub definitely has some interaction with the hallway at 30-40 hz, much more so then the speaker by itself. Right speaker +/- sub has even more interaction with room at 40 hz which I cannot detect and surprised me.
My preamp does not have the ability to run with audyssey app.So I think my question is: is this a relatively decent in room response? I think a crossover at 60 hz works pretty well as these speakers have good bass response by themselves. What should I work towards next in measurement with REW. Any comments/suggestions/criticisms welcome. Thanks
