I have an older dvd/vcr combo that does not have component or hdmi. I just bought a Yam rx-v2600 and a Mits HDTV. The wife does not want me to buy anything else at all. So, I was wondering if I should use this player with my new setup or just use my x-box for the time being. I will have the x box hooked up with the new stuff anyways. Will the Yamaha upscale the video on the x box? Will the output be bad using rca cables on the old combo player? Thanks in advance for any input...

I'd just use the Xbox. It's probably as good or better of a DVD player than the combo.

The specs for the Yammy RX-V2600 says that it can upconvert 480i to 720p or 1080i. So you should be good using the xBox and component connections.
