OK i have a HD TV and a HD cable box I'm going to be connecting with a HDMI to DVI cable. I was looking into Monster and saw that there were three types HDMI400, HDMI800, and HDMI1000. What are the differences and what will the significance be between them? Keep it in lamers terms please cause i am new to all this stuff.

PS: Is there any other lower priced cables with the quility of the Monster Cables?

There are no differences. HDMI is all digital. Any reasonable quality shielded cable will perform identically to any other.

HDMI passes on a very high bit rate digital signal. Cables come with different ga wire in them. While short distances, it doesn't matter, long distances will result in signal attenuation that may be detrimental.

Any way of finding out about those 3 cables? But, in the end, it doesn't matter. You should stay away from Monster cables, an expensive product and predatory business practices.

How long is that HDMI run? As you approach 20ft, you should get one with thicker wires inside, 25ga or even 22ga for longer runs.
If this is what you need, check out Blue Jeans advertised here as they have 25ga, DVI has both gages.
