Annoying Clicks and Pops

I was just listening to my new music room setup- playing the Classical Express Mahler 1st (thanks to A. Vivaldi's reccommendation
when, in a quiet point, I heard these very annoying clicks and sort of crunchy pops. As I'm in the shake down part of setting up the system, I was listening very critically to the sound, and this really woke me up.

Turns out that the cat had come down and was crunching on his kibble, the kitchen and music room are in essence one large room, and possibly due to some funny acoustics the initial impression was that it was coming from the front instead from behind me.

Well, at least easy to solve and not indicative of some ghastly electronics problem. It does reinforce the point that when you're listening, it really is the totality of the acoustical environment that forms the experience.

Classical has a strange way of seeming like it's loud, but you can still hear everything else around you. Listen to some classical in your car once with the windows rolled down, unless it's organ music you're going to be distracted a lot. Do you have Mozart's horn concerto's on Classical Express yet? Listen to this one with all the lights turned off once, You'll almost swear that the guy playing the baroque horn is sitting in the same room with you!

Yep and YEP!! Those are great Cd's. Mahler's 1'st is my favorite so far, if I could take only one CD to demo a system, that would be it- everything from kettle drums to solo flutes, and a huge dynamic range as close to perfectly recorded as I've heard- I can point to exactly where each instrument is in the soundstage, and each solo instrument is coming from where I know they're positioned.
