Animatrix on BD - not so great?

Of all of the things I wanted to check out from the set, this was the one I was most interested in seeing. I was not as impressed as I'd hoped, and perhaps that is why they left it just SD on the HD DVD set. Last Flight of the Osiris looked a little sharper than the SD DVD, but not by much. Program was very grainy. The red looked much better in this one that SD, but the whites were terrible. Beyond and Metriculation (my favorites) both looked great though, but I still hoped for a little more.

I will throw in the films over the course of the next few days and see how they look and sound.

Just got the delivery yesterday myself... I plan on checking out the movies this weekend. On the plus side I did think the packaging was quite nice .

I thought the standard DVD of Animatrix was beautiful! I use to use this as reference material for animated content before there was blu or HD-DVD. (the blindfolded sword fight scene).

Yep, that is the opening scene of Last Flight of the Osiris and is pretty good I expected there to be a noticeable improvement as I have seen the benefits of HD in other animated material, which is why I was a little disappointed with this one.

I really wanted the Animatrix on Blu-ray too, but I just can't get myself to spend $80 on a set with a bunch of crap discs that I will NEVER watch.

My favorite one is the one where the girl is looking for her cat and finds the "haunted house" where the neighborhood kids play. I forgot what it's called.

That is Beyond, and fortunately that one does look great. Those guys went on to do Tekkonkinkreet, which I also really enjoyed. I got the set for $69 shipped. A little pricey still considerting I will more or less only watch Animatrix and the first movie, but not too bad.

Does The Animatrix have uncompressed sound for the Japanese dialogue or just the English?
