Anchor Bay to Power New Yamaha RX-V2700

Anchor Bay today announced that its ABT1010 video scaling chip has been chosen by Yamaha for use in its new RX-V2700 HDMI-enabled AV receiver. The RX-V2700 is capable of HDMI, 1080p signal pass-through, and up-converting analog composite, S-video, and component signals to HDMI output, with a time base corrector that stabilizes the video signal. Powered by Anchor Bay's ABT1010 scaling engine, the RX-V2700 up-scales to HD resolutions of 720p and 1080i.

So what version of HDMI will this have? 1.3? Would this chip do a better job of processing than the OPPO players?

Maybe I'm missing something but hasn't the 2700 been out for a while? It's been at least two months. We've had them at work for the past two months. I've had one on order for the past three weeks ( dealer employee purchase program is very slow... but the price is right).

To answer Dukester's question, no, it does not have HDMI 1.3. It has v 1.2a which supports SACD and DVD-A as well as 1080p passthrough.

I've had my 2700 for almost two months now.
The only video source I have connected to it at the moment is a Denon 2930CI using HDMI, so I can't say what the video processing is like yet (HDMI on the 2700 is pass through).
I can say that the audio is terrific.
Very pleased with the 2700.

Is this a new feature or do up-converting receivers already change analog video signals to HDMI/DVi?

This was exactly my thought. I just ordered the 2700 over the weekend and was surprised to see the Anchorbay announcement. I also went through the PDF manual and didn't see a reference to Anchorbay in the specs sheet.

Is there a new revision or something coming out for the 2700??

AFAIK the 2700 used this chip when originally shipped.

This was my thinking when I read the article, also, hence my question about HDMI 1.3. With the anouncement coming somewhat in midstream, I thought maybe this was a revision.

The RX-V2700 page on Y's webpage has a 'powered by ABT' logo. I think the press release by ABT was untimely. Perhaps mistakes were made in their marketing dept. Or perhaps they simply decided to capitalize on the inclusion of their product into the RX-V2700 after the fact.

Yeay! I just got my Y2700 and I went over it looking at the logos and there's no reference to ATB anywhere. Heluva trick for their mktg dept to miss.
