Analog Reception Issue on Sony 34XS955 HDTV

My recently purchased Sony 34XS955 produces awesome OTA HDTV pictures (using rabbit ears 20 miles from the broadcast source no less), decent OTA analog pictures, and decent analog cable pictures tuned in the VCR and passed via composite connector through the receiver. The analog cable picture is fuzzy. Neither the wife nor I are happy about that since the Disney channel is a mainstay in this house (the kids have not seen it yet).

Since the picture is fine in HD I assume it is between the source and the "tuner". Since the picture is fine through the VCR I assume it is not the source. I have tried different cables. The TV can produce a decent 480i so I'm afraid it may be the cable connector or something similar.

After a hundred hookups this is the only outstanding problem.

If you have a set top cable box - then call your cable company. I had worlds of problems with my cable company when I tried to explain to them that the image was FINE two days ago, but now looks like crap. They redid all the cables that I had done and it looked the same... Duh, cables usually don't just go bad.

Turns out I was getting to MUCH cable signal at the house and they had to notch it back some. They got it fixed, but obviously wanted to blame the issue on me first. If you have tried everything you can think of, call your cable provider. It is their responsibility to get you a normal looking image.
