On 2 channel analog outputs from DVD/Blu-Ray players is the LFE mixed into the signal?

Yes, they should be full range and expect to be crossed over on the processor side. There is no LFE channel in 2ch.

this is with standard two channel outputs, so your saying the L/R outputs on my DVD player will downmix the LFE channel into the stereo mix and i will have LFE sent to an analog 2 channel receiver?

Yes. I have my Oppo setup like that for 2ch (using the separate 2ch analog outs) on my main system for music and my second system is 2ch only from the BD player to the integrated amp and no issues with either.

If a disc has a stereo track, you would want to select that. For discs that don't I choose DD and have no lack of sound. You may not get exactly what was on the LFE channel in the downmix, but there will be sufficient bass. I don't have a sub in my second system right now, but I tested it in my regular rig and it works fine. It obviously isn't the same as it would be if it were discrete channel information.

i actually noticed you don;t have to have LFE for the BOOM BOOM RUMBLE of movies, i watched the matrix revolutions in stereo on a wii console (obviously matrixed with PLII) and the bass content was really good, especially in the last scene where that weird thing (i havent decided what it is yet) begins talking. it seems the same information thats in the LFE channel is also in the left and right as well, at least thats what i noticed on a few movies i re-watched in stereo on a wii console.
