These specs come from the Anthem MCA series amplifiers. I would like to know what all this means.

Frequency Response: 20-20kHz (+0,-0.15 dB), 5-100kHz (+0,-2 dB)
THD+N: 0.0015% @ 1kHz, 0.03% @ 20kHz (100W into 8 ohm)
Power Bandwidth: 10-80kHz (+0, -3dB, 200W into 8 ohms)
Slew Rate: 20 V/us
Headroom: 1.45dB (8 ohms), 2.3 dB (4 ohms)
Input Sensitivity: 1.5 Vrms in for 225W out into 8 ohms
Input Impedance: 10kohm (RCA), 15Kohm (XLR)
Damping Factor: 180 @ 1kHz (ref 8 ohms)
S/N Ratio: 120dB, A-weighted (ref 225W)
Crosstalk: >65dB (100-10kHz)
Voltage Gain: 29dB

I'm interested in learning what that all means. Or if someone knows where I can get this info on the web would work too. Thanks.

What all this means is that this amp is transparent.

What do you mean by that? That is not even remotely close to what I was expecting to hear.

Do you mean that the amp will not introduce any "distortion" or "change the signal" in any way, and that it just amplifies the signal from the preamp/processor?

In a nut shell, yes. This amp will not produce audible faults withing its operating parameters. The specs are that good. Transparent means just that.

.....every brand amp, away from it's line, emits a different sonic signature at some level, when compared, Mtry....I've never heard two sound the same top-to-bottom....and I've always wanted to know which was which, to assign the blue ribbon, and remember things about the loser....this blind testing concerning audio bees crap......

....."you WILL take a double-blind test".....

....."NO, I WON'T take the silly thing".....

....."YES, YOU WILL!!.....

There are links on my "Audio Wisdom" page (see sig below) to audio glossaries that should define most of those terms. There is even a link to a site where you can listen to various levels and types of harmonic distortion.

But Mtry is basically right (IMHO) if you don't want to delve into the terms.
