If I buy the Denon 3805 as my primary receiver, do I need to buy an amp? I am an extreme novice when it comes to home theater so please help!
I plan on using a Denon 2200 dvd player with an Infocus Screenplay 5700 front projection. I plan on having a 6.1 channel surround sound.
I am probably going to go with deck speakers on a different zone with a volume control. I might have some other speakers through-out the house as well. I haven't decided yet. If anybody has any suggestions or comments please write back.

Thanks
Cory

The 3805 should be fine. The 3805 should be fully able to drive a full 6.1 system plus a couple of outdoor speakers on another zone. That's what it's made for. After that, well you might need another amp if you add more speakers.

Adding an external amp may give you better sound, it may not. All of these things are really dependent on what speakers you will have and how many. Regardless, the 3805 is a great starting point. You can always add an amp to it later if you choose.
