I have 2 RF35 Klipsch Cherry speakers, I have a old Kenwood receiver 100 watt, it keeps clipping out, I am thinking about buying a new receiver more amps to push these speakers. should I buy a home audio or a 2 channel receiver and what kind. I have been thinking about buying a yamaha 1600, because it has xm radio capabilities, but I am not using it for home audio. I will be using stereo mode only. Please help. Thanks.

What is the power on that amp? What is the speaker sensitivity? What levels are you listening to?

The speaker sensitivity is 98dB @ 2.83 volt/1 meter, and the receiver is 100 watts per channel 8 ohms, I listen to the Rolling Stones, Jimmy Hendricks at high levels and meters are showing 80-90 watts and stereo will shut off. What whould cure my problems.

WOW. At that power levels, into those sensitive speakers, you are listening at around 108 dB spl, very loud at what I would consider normal listening distance, 12ft. How large is the listening room? Your home? A larger space?

At this rate, you may loose your hearing or partial loss anyhow. But, to cure your problems, two Behringer A500 in bridged mode should cure that amp shutting down. Two of those amps costs about $360, a cheap fix.

Hearing loss is not fixable though, permanent.

Be careful. At those volumes you might be in a downward spiral. As your hearing gets progressively worse, you keep increasing the volume to compensate, hearing get worse faster, . . .

Thanks for the reinforcement. By the time they realize, it is too late and irreversible:mad:
