Amp or CD player problem

I've had 2 right channels go on me on two separate amps in the past 3 months. Both the vintage Pioneer and more recently a Teac integrated were more that powerful enough to handle my modest 6 ohm speakers. Cabling and interconnects are all trustworthy. All were tested on a second system. The only odd man out here is my Cambridge Audio 640C CD player. Is this just bad luck and coincidence or could CD player output be a problem? Thanks.

Power?

Could it be a power problem?
Do you have any power dropouts or surges where you live? Are you using a surge protector or line conditioner for your A/V grear?

Try an inexpensive tester in all of your outlets to make sure the AC is wired with the correct polarity, has a proper ground connecion, etc. I would also be good to check the AC voltage.

Good Idea

That's a good suggestion. I lost my Pioneer a/v amp fairly recently to a minor power surge. That would make three amps then, but the problem was bad connections and faulty solder joints, not a right channel dropout. The cd player was connected and playing at the time also. Your suggestion to look into surge suppressor/line conditioners makes sense. I have priced some PS audio and Brickyard models under $200 that I think would fit the bill. What do you recommend? Regards and thanks.
