Looking to match an amp for my Swan speakers I bought last week. I listen to mostly indie, rock and funk, with a little jazz. What amp would you recommend in the $1000 - $1500 range?
Thanks

Pretty much all you could want for your stereo Swan setup, and any possible HT use. It'll do 140 watts into stereo, and it will pump out enough power for any future HT use. It's sexy....it's pioneer....and it has a blue light. This thing will do your taxes and find your soul mate. What more could you ask for?

Just to clarify - are you wanting an amp or a receiver? If an amp, do you want an integrated amp or just a plain power amp?

Well if it isn't Cpt. Complicated.

Dun-da-dah!!! In the flesh.

I was just asking because you recommended a receiver instead of what I call an "amp." That's all. I just wanted to get on the same page as the OP. I like your receiver recommendation a lot. I see that you recommended an amp and pre-pro next. Very cool.

I agree with Adam. When I see amp, I think power amplifier. If you mean receiver than say receiver. The words are NOT interchangeble (at least not in MY dictionary!):D

Cheers for the suggestions so far. I'm looking for a 2 channel integrated amp I think. Quality of sound is my main focus. May be open to a receiver, not done any research into them, system will primarily be for audio, also don't really have the speace for pre and power amp, got to keep the misses happy but again am willing to concider if something suitable is out there. So far, I have heard the Cambridge Audio 840A and Mark & Daniel A400 (which I've heard has reliability problems, shame, as it sounded pretty good to me)
Cheers.

They are still in their boxes, just moved house and I'm waiting until I get an amp, cables and maybe a CD player (thinking of maybe just using my Archos MP3 player as my source, any recomendations for cables?) before setting everything up, It would be too frustrating to only be able to look at them and not hear them.

I would bet your swans came with speaker cables already. My 4.2s did. Some very nice quality 12 gauge cables. Just buy some banana plugs and you will be set.

They did come with some speaker cable, I wasn't sure on the quality or the gauge so I looked into getting a new pair, I'll stick some banana plugs on them and see how they go, thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunatly I'm unable to try out the Emotiva amps as I'm based in Hong Kong and are unavailable here. Any other recommendations for an amp, maybe one that pumps out decent bass.
Cheers,
I'm so itching to finally get this system up and running
