amp for outdoor speakers recommendation

its for my sister. i think i should rephrase the question. a 2 channel amp that has fm radio capabilities, and i could also plug a cd player into it.

though i do like how cheap that amp is, but id have to get her a stereo receiver.

ok after thinking about it some more. a stereo receiver with dual zones, for two sets of speakers. one set in the house and the other for outdoor speakers.

Amps strictly speaking only amplify signals (usually called power amps), integrated amps can handle switching among multiple inputs and act as pre-amp/amp together, receivers add radio/internet functionality to integrated amps. Your sister would probably get most flexibility from an avr, even only a 5.1 capable model.

she isnt interested in 5.1 so im just looking for something with dual zones. one pair indoor speakers, and one pair outdoor speakers. that can run independently of each other, with different sources. for instance, she has a party. outside speakers on cd player, and indoor speakers running in stereo fm station.

problem though. wanted to connect it to the direct tv receiver. that way i can use the speakers connected to the stereo for the tv.
tried every input with the red and white cables but no sound. is there a setting im missing in the direct tv settings?

What Direct TV receiver do you have? My current DVR has no analog outputs. It is possible that Direct TV have disabled the analog outputs with an update. The program suppliers do not like analog outputs as there is no DRM, so there is a good chance they demanded a disabling of the analog outputs. We are well past the analog sunset.

Go into the set up menu of your Direct TV device and see if you can enable 2 channel analog output.
If not, you will have to make a digital connection.

Might also check the avr's input settings as well as the D* receiver's output settings (what are they now in your D* unit, pcm or dolby digital?).

the yamaha has red and white rca only, no hdmi or digital/coaxial

i think her tv might have rca out or in, or maybe a headphone jack.
perhaps it would work if i connect the tv itself to the yamaha with red and white cables or the headphone jack. because yamaha to the direct tv receiver didnt work.

i was able to connect a more complicated denon x3300 to my tv with hdmi, but cant figure out this simple setup

There's another route to your destination. Buy a Bluetooth wireless speaker like the Charge 3 from JBL. This is an amplified speaker which delivers high fidelity at high volume, that's to say, it sounds awesome in the general vicinity of the area where it is placed. I use my Charge 3 with my iPhone or iPad, which are loaded with iTunes. I use these devices as network players to play my entire CD collection, thousands of songs. The iPad and iPhone also have the iHeart Radio app installed, so I can listen to my favorite radio stations too. Radio like this sounds better than when I retrieve it from my AM/FM tuner. At any rate, this method for enjoyment of music while outdoors is as convenient as it is mobile and seems to be the most satisfying means to enjoy music outdoors as I have experienced. Forget amps, RCA and or digital connections, just enjoy without any hassle or much expense.

finally went back to her house and took a closer look.

no rca red white out, no headphone jack out on her tv.

there is an digital optical out on the tv
direct tv receiver also has digital optical out
the stereo has only rca red and white in, no digital optical

so...... is there some type of optical out to rca in adapter i can buy?
if there is, i can connect the stereo to either the tv or direct receiver to get sound from the stereo?

strange also that her tv to direct tv receiver has hdmi connect, as well as red and white to both.
i thought hdmi output both sound and video, so no need to connect rca red and white.
so im assuming i can disconnect the rca red and white cable for less clutter, and wont be an issue?

i hate this stuff

Im new to the forum, I have just bought a rotel RA-930AX stereo and wondered what speaker would best suit it??

My budget is £100 and i wouldnt mind getting a 2nd hand speaker for under £100 if its best for my stereo
