AMP FOR Monitor Audio GR-20's?? Thinking Rotel or Parasound...

I am getting a pair of Monitor Audio GR-20's. I have a Parasound AVC2500u. I am going to be using this to power a stereo set-up with the GR-20's and an amp. The only thing I don't have is the amp. I was thinking of getting either a Rotel-991 (550) or a Parasound 1500a. Or a Parasound Halo A23 if I could find one for a good price. Possibly used. I've heard the GR-20's on a B&k. I have heard B&W's 604's on a Rotel. Do the B&W and Monitors both have that bright sound where it will sound good with the rotel. Thanks.

There are a number of us here with MA speakers. I couldn't see the extra money for the Gold series - they were noticeably better than my Silvers, but not, IMHO, twice as nice. Also, the electronics you mentioned are way out of my league. Beautiful stuff, if you've got the bucks!

I have heard my integrated amplifier (Opera Audio Consonance a120 Hybrid Integrated Stereo) drive a pair of GR-10s. I thought it sounded great. If it were me, I'd dump the AVC2500u and get a high-end integrated amp. Preferrably one which has a tubed line stage (preamp section) and solid-state output (power amp section).

p.s. Disclaimer: I have my a120 for sale in the classifieds on this forum, but none the less, a hybrid integrated really is great and convenient for 2-channel. For example, the a120 has two sets of outputs, one I used for line inputs to my powered subwoofer.

Seriously, check out a hybrid integrated stereo amp.

I have heard the GR-10's with a 2 channel Halo setup. It was amazing. Right now I have RS6 MA's with Denon. Since my dealer will give me full credit if I upgrade, I plan on upgrading to the GS20's with the Halo's as soon as I can afford it.

An Odyssey Stratos amp, very good piece for the money. Better than Rotel or Parasound.

Any of the high end amps you list will probably work great with your MAs. For a good price on a slightly used amp, check out audiogon.com

I agree with this. I was able to purchase a used Adcom GFA-5503 which retails for $1700 for $500 on Audiogon. I think Adcom sounds amazing with my MA GR speakers. Unfortunately, I have not compared it to other amps with these speakers.

You could use just about any amp with that Parasound Pre (the Halo would be a nice match). I'm not a believer in amps "coloring the sound". I do believe that any loudspeaker will benifit from more power but the MA GR20's are pretty efficient 6 Ohm speakers and are relativly easy to drive. I have MA GR 60' s 20's and 10's paired with a Sunfire amp using a Denon 3805 AVR as the pre and this combo sounds great to me.
