i've read so much in the last few days, that i'm starting to go dizzy

i'm told by the guys at CV that i want a minimum of 150W RMS per channel and that i'd probably want 250W RMS per channel.

local audio store suggested a Crown XLS 1500 amp.

budget is of concern, and i've found a used NAD C350, but the CV guy said it would not suffice.

also, will the brand of amp in these low cost brackets really affect the sound coming through my speakers?

these speakers will be used for every day music listening at home, movie watching and the occasional ruckus house party.

please advise! i feel lost but i also feel on the cusp of seeing the light of day!! :)

side info not sure how important, but i'll be running my cd/vinyl/mp3 player into the amp via a pioneer djm 500 mixer.
