Amp connected to Sub out on 7.2 surround receiver

Hello, I am new to this forum, this is my first post. I currently have a 7.2 setup. I was recently given a Cerin-Vega HT-12D 12" passive subwoofer. I currently use a Polk 8" powered sub. Here's my question. I have a Nikko Alpha 230 power amp not being used. I want to hook up the Vega sub to it. If I hook up the Nikko amp to the "sub out" on my receiver, what will the output be on the amp? Meaning, there are no input level controls on the amp. Will the volume be maxed? I have no idea how that works.

Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe won't be a problem if your avr can adjust for the single choice in gain setting (full bore as you mentioned) you're giving it. Can always try. An amp running full bore is normally not needed but depends on the pre-out level as well as the amp's input sensitivity ratings. The Nikko appears to have an input sensitivity of 1V per this https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/nikko/alpha-230.shtml

The Nikko apparently has no gain control. That's OK, output to sub from AVR is variable, meaning sub volume is controlled/set by the AVR., so no problem; however, you may have a concern for the amp having enough power to drive the sub. I have a passive 15 inch JBL B380 sub, originally powered by a 300 watt amp. That was not enough power

to prevent clipping, which sounds like a sledge hammer hitting a steel pylon. To straighten things out I had to hook up a 560 watt amp to the 600 watt rated sub. BTW, the new Crown amps have gotten some good reviews, so if your amp does prove to be inadequate you'll have an alternative to consider.
