Hi this is a question regarding amplifiers. I am currently using a Denon 3805 with studio 40,s as my fronts, CC590 as my centre and mini monitors as my rears. Hear is my question. I am interested in upgradiong to separtes the amps in question are Anthem MCA series and Emotiva. I unfortunately can not demo either in my area. The price difference between the MCA 20 and the Emotiva XPA 2 are quite substantial. Is the Anthem a better Amp than the Emotiva or is it just pricing. Thanks in advance all opinions welcome.

I would say the Anthem would wring out a bit more detail, and be more musical – but only if you’re really into critical listening. For 99% of the people out there, you won’t find a difference, except in the weight of your wallet after the purchase.

An amp is an amp is an amp...assuming they are of high quality.

Best bang for your buck is a pro amp, followed by a good used consumer amp.

The EMO will sound just like the Anthem. I had issues with my EMO but most guys on here have never had issues and love them.

Both are excellent amp choices. I was in the same boat you are about six months ago (looking at both brands). I was able to audition both amps. I went with the XPA-2 and have absolutely no regrets. I replaced an older parasound amp and the differences are incredible! I also have Paradigms. I've used the XPA-2 with Studio 100's and Signature S2's. Another thing to consider is Emotiva's 30 return policy. All it would cost is return shipping if you are not completely satisfied. If you are considering buying an Anthem, this would be a drop in the bucket. I really think you will be happy either way you decide.
