Hey everybody

I bought a pair of PSB Image T55 towers recently and have been using them with an old Sony receiver model STR-DE405. Its something that was already in the house from years ago so I just connected it up thinking I'd wanna upgrade anyway. But it sounds good, the speakers can rumble the house if needed, and I dont feel like like Im missing anything. BUT, we all know you don't know what you're missing until you try something better ;)

With all that said, would I really get much benefit from getting an amp/preamp combo or even an integrated amp? I was thinking something from NAD most likely... but should I bother?

What do you guys think?

Those speakers are quite efficient, so you probably don't need more power per se than you now have. I noticed that they are low impedance, however, which may demand more current at high volumes than the Sony can provide.

Unless you are having some performance issues, just enjoy the music. Perhaps you can postpone or avoid the pitfalls of upgraditis for a while.

IMO, the current NAD stuff is not a great value. If I were you, and just had to scratch the upgrade itch, I would take a look at the Emotiva two channel gear.

Emotiva is doing today what NAD did in years past in the value department.
