Alternate Sub Connection?

Good morning-

I was recently lucky enough to receive a subwoofer from a friend... the sub (PB 100) has RCA inputs and regular speaker wire inputs. The RCA inputs are seperate stereo inputs (unfortunately not a single input). My reciever, however, has the single RCA output for a sub.

I have a sub connector with a single RCA connection on both ends.

Do I just need to find an adapter that would make one end of a sub connection split into two RCA connectors so it can hook into the sub? Would I be better off running speaker wire from the sub to the reciever and just doubling up on the speaker inputs?

Thanks in advance...

It'll work fine if you just plug into one of the inputs. You can go to Radio Shack and buy a Y-adapter that lets you plug into both inputs if you want. All it does is raise the input level - the same effect as turning up the volume knob on the back of the sub.

So, go ahead and plug a single RCA cable from your receiver to the L input on the sub and be happy :)

Thanks Jonny - however, I did try that. I ran the subwoofer RCA connector from the receiver (single connection) to the one of the sub's inputs (I tried both left and right) and it didn't produce anything. I hope to have more luck trying a splitter...

Would that other idea work if all else fails? (hooking speaker wire from the sub to the receiver - doubling up on the left/right inputs.)

If that didn't work, a splitter won't work. Either:

1) Your receiver is set up wrong
2) The cable is bad
3) The subwoofer is somehow malfunctioning.

You wouldn't want to double up the speaker inputs at the receiver, but you would want to run speaker wire from the front speakers to the sub, then from the sub to the front speakers. That should work as well.

I'd definitely try to get the sub output working though.

Thanks Jonny - I'll double check everything tonight... I appreciate the advice.
