Those home made subs are incredible, very nice :)! They just need to be finished with black dye and whatever that thin wood that covers speakers is :p Super setup, congrats

That "thin wood" is called Veneer. Just for future reference.

Thanks Rocky!
I just can't decide which finish to go with. I would like to keep the contrast of the driver from the box. Any suggestions!!!

AMAZING! bass is tight and strong, i can't really compare these's to something else because they are my first sub's, but i can say that at 1/2 volume on my Jolida amp i'm in heaven. I have to find some feets for theses because the vibrations get noticeable easily. For a first experience i'm really happy.

Hockey pucks are a quick fix until you get real feet.

Some people never get the joke but I am glad to see you appreciate the benefits of a subwoofer. They can make even the smallest bookshelves sound like floor standing towers.

Have you tried your subs in opposing positions yet? Either one in front and one in back or one on each side of the room?

Great Job and extra points for building your own speakers!!!!!!!

Man, those are some subs. :D

I've been looking at the Ascends for a while now - what else did you look at, what were your impressions, what tipped it toward the 170s?

Thanks!

Thanks guys
I didn't have the chance to play around with them because the power cord for the subs are kind of short for the moment. So i can't really move them around and try different positions. I'm planning to add a longer power cord...

For the Ascend Acoustics 170s they are really great compare to the cheep commercial stuff. Again these are my first 'high quality' monitors and i cant compare to anything else other than my cheep sony speakers. The different was like night and day when i hear the 170s for the first time. They are very neutral from what a hear but one thing you really get with these is details. If you go to audioreview website you will find a lot of review saying good thing about these. For the money you pay i don't thing you can find better. I also changed the capacitors but i didn't notice any improvements.
