i've always graded denon/yamaha ahead of onkyo, but that could be a psychological thing...
I feel the same way. Current Yamaha owner.

Previous receiver was an Onkyo. However, it does still work, and I have never had a problem with it.

i've changed what i want :)

ok, after some decision making... swmbo has decided that she wants an external scalar...

so... i've changed what i want...

all i want now is a pre-pro/receiver that will has hdmi in and has some type of automatic room eq...

scaling, etc. is unimportant... just needs to sound good and take in hdmi to handle the audio...

Find a good deal on the Yamaha RX-V1600, it's basically the 2600 minus the video scaling, 10 watts less power, which is irrelavent in your case, and no gui for setup... who cares, the 1600 is easy to setup without it.
