AHH!! FedEx left new speakers in puddle!

Ok, I'm on the road for work this week which has it's benefits like paying for the new speakers. So I'm talking to the wife and she says 3 boxes arrived. FedEx's website says 1 was delivered. Score! All 3 new speakers have arrived!! Axiom's M60v2 towers and the V150v2 center.

Then my wife casually mentions the boxes were sitting in water and FedEx hadn't used any plastic underneath them. (trying not to panic) I asked my wife how wet the boxes were. She said they left a trail when she dragged them into the garage.:mad::eek::(

SO...I placed a grief stricken call to Axiom to ask how they were packed. I had to leave a message but Axiom called back within 15 minutes. As explained, they said the speakers were double boxed, in plastic, and surrounded by memory foam.

I'm going to have my wife open up the boxes and check for moisture, but I do have confidence in Axiom's packaging. I will give Axiom credit. Their guy said to call them back immediately if they were not dry.

I have my fingers crossed and can't wait to get home and get them set up.

I see the monkeys have found a new way to destroy anything they get their hands on. Good luck.

FWIW, none of the speakers I have received would be hurt by sitting in a puddle. They were bagged in plastic and set away from the outside box with foam (as it sounds like yours are).
However, it does suck that you no longer have a decent box if you ever want to ship them.

Oh man I would be livid to say the least. Make sure you or the wife gives FED EX a call and lets them know the entire situation. The reason being, as filing a claim is time-limited. You did the right thing in letting Axiom know the situation. I am sure they will continue to be helpful. Hopefully, the water did not get to the speakers. In the mean time, congrats on your new speakers! Be sure to keep us posted. Good luck in rectifying the situation you are in. ;):);)

Cheers,

Phil

My wife would have failed to mention/notice the water. As for dragging them inside, not a chance. I would however be notified immediately of delivery "How Much Did These Cost"?

Update

Update:

My wife pulled the speakers out of the boxes and checked them over. Per Axiom's reputation, they were well packed. My wife said there was something like 4 inches of foam at the bottom of the M60 tower boxes and the water never got close to the speakers.

She said the center was not as well packed, but that it looked good. I will check it to make sure when I get home. But the plastic and such has me thinking it's in good shape.

The indication she gave me was the cardboard was so soaked on the bottom of the boxes that it was flaking off.

I can't wait to hook them up and see how they sound. Argh!! Stupid job getting in the way of the new toys!

I hate both Fedex and UPS, I wish I wasn't forced to have them deliver stuff when I order things. The only way I know anything shows up from FedEx is because they throw it on the ground or at the door. Ups was too lazy to open my gate that consists of a small lever to move it open on springs. It practically opens itself. Couldn't be bothered with that so my hard drive was thrown over the fence. Did it work? No. Did I file a complaint about the driver? Yes. How bout the time Fedex delivered my $2,500 laptop to a crack-head 4 doors down at apartment 38, when I clearly lived at appartment 35. There were 4 seperate boxes, thats 4 CHANCES to get the correct address. Only way I found it was I looked at FedEx website, where it said "delivered" and saw that someone had signed for it, that was definitly not me. Called Fedex, they couldn't do anything about it, except say "how sorry they were" to have delivered it to the wrong adress and that a report would be filed in 2 or 3 days, a driver would check.

Nope- Called the police. They came over asked me what happened, then said the dude was a crack-head and they assumed he was dealing drugs out of his garage and thanked me for this wonderful opportunity to get into his house with the probable cause he had my stuff, and signed for it WITH HIS NAME! Awesome. They arrested him, and for the next 5 hours, the cop kept coming back with more and more pieces of the laptop package. Dude went to jail,. then they wanted the Fed Ex driver, I found out through Fed Ex, they found him, and he was fired, no idea if anything else happened to him for being so careless with $2,000 worth of someone else's stuff.

Unfortunatley, from what I've heard, there is no "good" delivery company, so I totally feel OP's pain.

I'm pretty happy with Canada Post. If nobody is home, they will drop it off at the nearest depot which in my case is a hardware store a few blocks from my house. This works for me but it may not work for the rest of you.;)

This is very good news! Glad to hear it. Of course, I am sure you are as well. Congrats once again on your new speakers. Be sure to post some pics if you don't mind. Inquiring minds want to know. ;);)

I had to send my Marantz receiver in for service and both the dealer and service center told me to use USPS. They apparently are the most gentle with packages. UPS, I was told, drops EVERY package off a 3 foot high conveyor belt at the distribution center. The CS at the post office was less than stellar, but they delivered it fast (next day even though I paid for 3-5 day delivery) and in good shape.

I was told by someone who used to work for UPS, that they are all in fact thrown onto a conveyor belt to be loaded into a truck, and sometimes, they don't hit the conveyor belt and they just land on the ground. All are dropped off a 3 foot ledge onto carts to move around, and if something doesn't fit right in the truck, they pull the bottom package out, let everything else crash to the ground, and fit it in "better". :(

Absolutely! A lot of people complain about the Post Office, but I never have problems with it. If there's nobody home, they leave a card saying where I can pick up the package, normally the postal outlet at a nearby supermarket - 3 minute drive.

Then, there's UPS. I recently had a pair of Dayton RSS265HF drivers delivered by UPS and the problem with them is that you can't just pick up the package at their local depot. At least that's what I was told. They can't even give you a ballpark time frame for delivery, just "delivery can take place between 9am and 7pm on the scheduled delivery date". So, my wife had to stay home all day waiting for delivery, on the scheduled date, only for the delivery not to happen. So, she had to wait around the next day for delivery, which did thankfully happen. There were brokerage fees ($40!) and GST owing, so they couldn't just leave them by the front door. I wouldn't be comfortable with that anyway.

At least they showed up intact!:)

That's always nice to know when they are delivering and then to make sure you are home so that you can receive the package in good condition.

That's disgusting! UPS called my girlfriend today trying to deliver a package from Hong Kong (wtf?) that she knows nothing about. They won't give her any info, won't try again today and won't let her pick it up from the distribution center (which happens to be in the middle of the ghetto) until 9 pm. Great service right there!
