I'm not a vinyl guy, but, some of the best wire management I have ever seen :D.

I've noticed that as well in suits. I just think it's cool to see "Hi Fi" creeping into the mainstream. Between the vinyl in suits and the speakers + Mc equipment in the new Sherlock Holmes series I think it would make things more interesting to have more people interested in this stuff.

What do you mean "creeping" in? Its been there for a long time. I guess I was the only one that noticed that Joey and Chandler had Martin Logans in their apartment even though they apparently had no audio gear to drive them? :D

I don't remember how everything looked, but there was also a turntable system in the movie "The Mechanic" with Jason Statham. I don't recall if it was nice or not though :)

Cartoons don't generally go together with Hi Fi. So yes, for me they're "creeping" in :p

A lot of people who like tube amplifiers go with efficient horn speakers. This is often due to the fact that most tube amplifiers are low powered, and consequently incapable of driving inefficient speakers very well. They often do the opposite of the advice I give, and that is to select the speakers first, and then select appropriate amplification for them. I have encountered many tube lovers who first pick a tube amplifier, and then try to find speakers that will work with it. And they often do the opposite of the advice I give for their budget as well, as I advise people to (generally) spend the vast majority of their budget on speakers, whereas many tube lovers spend as much or more on their tube gear as on their speakers.

And many tube lovers also love turntables. To me, what you are describing seems pretty normal for people who like the kind of gear depicted. It is not what I would get, nor is it what I would advise anyone to get. But many people have different criteria that they use for selecting their gear, so many people end up with systems that are quite different from mine.

I get the fact that tubes and record players are like peanut and jello and tubes do need a more sensitive speakers, like these Klipsch.
My gripe is with lack of balance - aka 4-5 k in turntable and amp (if not more) and under $500 for speakers...

Not that this show is realistic in any other way :) other than many outdoors street shots were made next to build which I work in

I have seen people do that sort of thing. Spend huge amounts on exotic components, and cheap out on the speakers. People really do it. So the TV show is not being unrealistic about the systems that people actually set up. If it upsets you, I am sorry, but that is what some people really and truly do.

But in this case, I think you are overestimating the cost of the components. According to your discussion link, this is the turntable (though it looks like there are two different ones in different pictures that you provide in the OP, as well as two different amplifiers in different pictures):

Pro-Ject RPM1.3 Turntable in White

It is only $499.

I think that one is in your first picture, with a different turntable in your third picture.

Now, if you can find the specific model of amplifier, we can find its price, too. But the price of the turntable is not totally out of whack with the speakers, if they are the Klipsch RB-51 II, which retail for $419.99:

RB-51 II Bookshelf Speakers | Klipsch ®

As for the tube amplifier, again, we need to know what it is to know what it costs. But you can get a tube integrated amplifier for a few hundred dollars, so it may be much less than you are thinking for it as well. Here, for example, is a Jolinda tube integrated amplifier for $599:

JOLIDA FX10 INTEGRATED TUBE AMP at Music Direct

Of course, it is not one of the amps in your pictures, but tube integrated amplifiers need not cost thousands of dollars.

I like that show a lot (Suits), but I never noticed that before...that's a hilarious observation.
Then again, I've only seen the first season and a few of the second season, so I need to get back on that. Harvey FTW.

I have seen that movie. To me, the turntable looked like Clearaudio and the tower speakers looked like B&W towers.

Yep, annoys me to no end. I try to ignor the speakers, but they show them so much. Prolly cause they "look expensive" or something.
