Again with the which sub to buy...

The sub is the last component of my system I have to buy. So far I have 4 Magnepan MMGW's and a MMGC center, all powered by a Yamaha RX-V1500. The room is about 14 x 11, opening to a kitchen of about the same size. Right around 2500 cubic feet total. This system will be my one and only system for both HT and audio, I am trying to get the best of both worlds, which I know is difficult. I want to try to stay under $250 for the sub, and I am looking for recommendations. The sub needs to have a L/R input, not just an LFE. Magnepan recommends setting up the receiver to no sub, and feeding the sub with the front L/R pre outs and running everything full range. So far I have been looking at the following...

Velodyne VX-10
BIC H100
Dayton pre built 10" from P.E.

Any others i should be looking at in that price range? The Onix X-Sub is out because they are back ordered until sometime in April, and I want to get this thing ordered this week. I would be open to a nice used piece as well if anyone has or knows of anything...

Thanks!

Mike

The BIC presents the best value out of the subs you listed. But you may want to save a little more and get a better sub that would better fit your very nice system.:D

Agreed, don't cheap out on the sub especially since you have fairly big space to fill and a good sub should last quite a while. I have had a $450 a Hsu VTF-2 for six years and it's still going strong. At around $500 there are many, many good choices to pick from. There is also the used market, and cosmetic "B Stock" from most of ID purveyors of subs. IE Hsu, SVS, Axiom, Rocket and others.
