What would be a good set up.
What would be some suggestions on speakers and a receiver?
I would like a nice sounding system.
Clairty and quality is most important.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How big is your listening area?
How much are you willing to spend?
Will you listen to music, movies, or both?

Like the other poster said...

Stereo only or HT, either now or in the future? Big difference?

Hoe much $$ are you planning on spending.

If you want to be taken seriously, you'll answer these.

I would recommend looking at the Audioholics recommended systems as referenced below:

http://www.audioholics.com/buying-guides/system-buying-guides/

This way you can see about what your budget will buy for you and give you a starting place. Once you know your budget and provide room size and any layout particulars, then people will chime in with more specific alternatives of equipment recommendations.

I would be mostly be watching movies with it but would def be at times be playing music.
I dont really know how much i want to spend, but i know i want a nice set up and if it takes me a while to piece it together then so be it.
I do like this receiver Yamaha RX-V663. Unless there is something in that price range that is better + or - a hundred bucks.
And then what ever speakers would best match up with what receiver is suggested.
Since i am pretty new to this site.
I have been into stereo stuff and speakers for many years now but it has been with mobil audio. A few years back i bought a kenwood receiver that was a boxed set with everything there. Out of that all i use right now is the receiver. The kenwood receiver is model vr-615 the sub is jbl gsub10.
The center is polk cs1 the fronts are some darn white van speakers that i didnt know were till a few days ago... I still think they sound good but they are some digital audio towers that have 2 6" drivers and a single tweeter.
Last but not least are the satalite speakers which are a free set of bose model 25's.
So i am def wanting to upgrade. I think the only decent speaker i have is the center channel speaker lol!

The Yamaha receiver is a sound choice. For speakers I would recommend an SVS SBS-01 system which has a good 10” subwoofer for just under $1000. It has a good review by Audioholics, especially for surround sound playback. I think it would do nicely.

I second that. Dart, you never clearly stated your budget in this thread or your other one, so kind of shooting from the hip on this one. If you were to get that V663 for the price you found it at, match it with a full SVS SBS-01 5.1 system, you're spending roughly 1400 bucks on a fantastic, real Home Theater system. If you want to see the SBS speakers, click on the link to My System below, except I've got the PB12-NSD sub, which is the big brother sub of the PB10-NSD that comes with the 5.1 package system. But that 10" sub will rock the socks off whatever you have now, I guaran-damn-tee it. :D
