College Kid

Audiophyte
As my user name states I am obviously a college kid looking for a good deal on some DECENT used speakers. I have been watching a used audio site online called craigslist??? and have found a pair of Cerwin Vega RE 25's (I think) for around 300 bucks and 4 hahah Old school Bose speakers- Two 201's and Two 701's that have hardly been used and are in prestine condition for 200 bucks.

Is thier a difference between the old Bose 701's and the new crapy 701's II series that every body bashes?? Do speakers age like hotrods ???
And is 200 dollars for a set of four old school Bose speakers to much??

Keep in mind broke college student looking to put some speakers that sound clean and bump around the house with out breaking the bank.

Which is not Bose according to most people on this site but I figured i would ask anyway

Anyfeedback would be greatly appreciated.

If I was going to go for Cerwin Vega's I would stick with the AT or D series. AT's are the best I have heard from them. (I own AT-12's and D-5's both are 12" woofer 3 ways) CV's are good dorm room "rock til ya drop" speakers but don't go trying to disect jazz or classical with them...

Bose...your correct...You won't find alot of support for them around here. Some of their speakers sound okay but they are way too expensive for what you get and stay away from the cube speakers, they're terrible.

For more used options try http://www.audiogon.com/ You might find something in your price range.

Good luck,
