Advice on replacing receiver

Hi all. I hopped on here a few years ago to get some advice on setting up a system in the house i had just moved into. I got some good advice, so thank you, and i was hoping you could help me out again.

I just had an integra DTR-5.9 trip its amp protection circuit on me. i've gotten the impression that the repair probably isn't worth the cost and i should just get a new receiver. i contacted the company that originally set me up and they suggested the yamaha RX-A2030 ($765). Is that a good replacement receiver, or should i explore a different option?

My setup is in my family room, with an Xbox 360, Wii and cable hooked up to the receiver, which feeds the TV (panel mounted in an enclosure surrounded by the front speakers) and a 5.1 setup. I've got a set of Sonance Symphony 621 speakers for the front and surrounds, and a PSB Subsonic 5i sub. I also have a set of Sonance 621TR(?) speakers set up in the dining room and two bose outdoor speakers (not sure of the model) set up outside, both of which operate off the second zone through a Russound switch. I may have the speaker models wrong. One additional consideration (which may have stabbed the integra in the eye) is that the receiver, switch, xbox and wii are all in an enclosed cabinet underneath the TV. It's a roughly 6x2x2 space, and the 2 side cabinet doors have mesh centers to allow IR access and provide some ventilation. but i think it still gets pretty toasty in there. i have a couple of USB fans blowing to try and provide some airflow, but either way its not an ideal setup.

I'm comfortable with the price of the yamaha, but could go higher if it was reasonable. i mostly use the receiver for watching TV/movies, some gaming and some music, but i'm not in the market for top quality fidelity. any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Lots of good options out there. I'm partial to receivers using Audyssey like Denon. Another option worth a look is the Sherbourn 8100 for $599. It is basically an Emotiva UMC-200 with 7 channels of amplification off the UPA-500 power supply.

That is a really good price for the 2030, I would jump on that, who sells it for that? and is it brand new? thats one of the newest Yamahas available..

I went back and double-checked my email, and the receiver that it appears they meant to suggest was actually the RX-830, not the 2030 (the email said 2030, but linked to the 830). Sorry for the confusion. Given that, any difference of opinion?

afterlife made some good suggestions, I am a fan of separates so I would say umc200 and a UPA500 will give you 80X5 all ch driven and cost $959 shipped but if I was in the market for an avr just to get the job done, I have to say I am thoroughly impressed with the Pioneer 1222K Pioneer SC-1222-K 7.2-Channel Network Ready AV Receiver - Newegg.com or open boc for $475 Pioneer SC-1222-K 7.2-Channel Network Ready AV Receiver - Newegg.com

And by the way the 820 is on sale for $479 YAMAHA RX-A820 7.2-Channel Receiver - Newegg.com use code EMCXPVR22 for $420 off which is also a good deal but I like the Pioneer 1222K better, like I said it has impressed me, it was super easy to setup, the room software dialed it rite in {and it was hooked to bose cubes !!!!} the power is about the best I have seen in an avr especially for that price, we played some 2ch music through a set of WD diamond bookshelfs and it sounded great...

Others here own the unit and everyone seems happy with it... and for under $500 its hard to beat....

I like Denon and Marantz AVR because they have Pure Direct 2.1, 5.1, and 7.1 modes while other brands only have Pure Direct 2.0 mode.
