Advice on Receivers

I'm looking to purchase a new receiver and have narrowed it down to a couple of choices.

Onkyo TX-NR609
Denon AVR-1911
Yamaha RXV-671

No as I understand, the Denon AVR-1912 doesn't do upscaling so it's out and I'm worried that the number of HDMI inputs on the AVR-1911 won't be enough (even though currently it is).

I have the following Polk speakers:
RTi 6 Bookshelf
CSi 3 Center
R30 for the back.

My room is 11' X 23', but the way it is configured, we would only be using a part of it with the 11' section being the length, one wall on the right and then the left side would be the 23' width.

I'm figuring I don't need a ton of power to drive the speakers. Internet radio would be nice, but not necessary.

As well, the new Yamaha HTR-5064 looks good with a reasonable MSRP and I'm not sure if I should perhaps wait for that to come out.

Also, since I'm in Canada, everything is more expensive. My wife and I have rented a cottage this weekend in Chatauqua, NY and I was thinking of driving to Cleveland, Erie, or Pittsburgh to pick up a receiver. Any suggestions on decent places in these cities which would have good prices and variety?

I know this is a lot of questions and I'm just hoping for some guidance. I don't want to make the wrong choice and while the money isn't really huge, we certainly aren't rich and so value is important.

I could be wrong but I thought people were able to get some great deals on the Denon AVR-3311. Something like <$600. If that is true, why bother with the ones you have narrowed down to?

That was a quick find on Amazon that was snatched up quick.

FYI, upscaling is unimportant in the receiver. It is better to be done by the source or display.

Any of those receivers will work fine. I prefer the Denon or Yamaha. Best Buy sells all 3 models, though it seems the Onkyo in their Magnolia stores.

I would pass on the RX-V671 and look at last years RX-V667 ($369 at amazon) or the RX-V867 ($430 at newegg).

Aftering comparing the specs I have the agree. The only thing is, he wants more HDMI inputs but he can just add a switcher.

I would go with the AVR-1911 for the Audyssey MultiEQ and let the display handle the upscaling. As PENG says you can always add a 4 port switch later.

Thanks for the advice. I ended up going with the Yamaha RX-V867 from HHGregg. It was a litte more expensive than NewEgg ($459), but I'm in the
US for the weekend and have $800 duty-free allowance between my wife and I. Also, it saves me from having to deal with coming back to Niagara Falls, NY to pick up the receiver from NewEgg or worrying about brokerage fees on top of custom fees.

They also had the RX-V667 for $329 on their clearance table. Seems like a very good price. I'm not sure if all locations have those models available, but the one in Erie, PA now has the one still available.

I'm excited to get it home and get the home theatre wired up and optimized. Now I just have to figure out how to do it.
