Advice on a reciever

Hey guys, I'm setting up a HT for my parents back home and need some advice. The budget that I'm working with is somewhat undertermined (mom says less dad says more suprise suprise), but I would guess that I'm gonna end up with around 4-5k for the reciever, 5 channels, and the sub. With that approximate budget in mind, what direction do you think that I should go? This system will be almost entirely for movies and tv watching. Based on research, maybe the Yahama 2500, Denon 3805...I'm not really sure. Also, could anyone recommend a speaker system? I will definitely go with an SVS sub.

Thanks in advance guys,

Poshag

That is a nice budget to work with. You can get a Kick Butt system for that much.

I would say either one of the 2 recievers are going to do fine.

A nice system for that price point would be:
AVR-3806
DVD-1920
Phase Tech Velocity Speakers
Cables.
SVS Sub

You can get that system for your price range.

Another would be change out the 3806 for the RX-V1600 and save some money to invest some place else.

Other speaker choices are Phase Tech PC series, Energy Veritas. The Denon 2910 is also an awesome DVD player if you want to upgrade that. But the 1920 should do the job good enough. The Yammy DVD-C950 is also a sweet 5 disk DVD player to take into account. :D
