Adios Sim2, hello JVC (and questions)

Well, my 2004 Sim2 projector finally bit it. The "warranty" on this unit sucked. The first time it went in, they told me that since I had never filled out a warranty card, even though the unit was well within it's warranty and the dealer I bought it from sent it in, they denied the warranty.

Actually, I'm releived. The Sim was the most finicky piece of equipment I've ever owned. It decided when it wanted to work, and when it didn't. When the unit was new, it was around $18K. I bought it as a demo, so I didn't pay that for it, but man, the stuff now at 1/3 to 1/4 of that price beats the crap out of the Sim.

Which brings me to my new purchase, a JVC DLA HD1.

I found a great mom and pop store that has a few of them still for $3,999.00 and only 50 bucks to ship overnight. Please don't fall for the lowest price whores in New Jersey or New York, you will be ripped off, one way or the other.

I still have my Carada Criterion Bright White 104" screen, but I was wondering if maybe I should look at a different screen for the JVC. I bought the bright white screen because the Sim was a bit pale light-wise and needed the boost.

I've been looking at the Stewart FireHawk or maybe a DaLite, but I'm not really sure if I even need to change what I have.

Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Thanks!

My advice would be to look at the picture with your current screen and if you are not happy look at new screens. You won't know till you try.......:D

You'll be fine with the Carada Criterion Brilliant White, I too own the HD1 and have it paired with the same screen and have zero issues. The JVC does a superb job with blacks, and the colors definitely pop with the Carada. Im on a 16:9 126" diagonal screen and it is indeed outstanding. Enjoy the new toy. Cant post pics yet, but trust me it is indeed awesome.
