My home theater system consists of a Yamaha AV receiver speakers and subwoofer connecting to a Oppo blu-rayplayer and a HD cable box. All the connections are easy as it just involves running HDMI cables from all the components. But if i wanted to add and connect a DVD Recorder / VCR with Line-In Recording that has no tuner how would i hook it up to this system?

Which Yamaha receiver do you have? Also, which recorder are you looking to add to your system? That will help us know how to connect it.

This is the third thread you have started basically asking the same question. You will need to use the analog connections that I referred to in one of your other threads.

My AV receiver is a part of this home theater system Yamaha YHT-797 5.1-Channel Network Home Theater System. As for the DVD/VCR combo its the Magnavox ZV427MG9 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo, HDMI 1080p Up-Conversion, No Tuner.

Well, it looks like your receiver on the Yamaha system has 4 HDMI inputs, pick one, and plug your Magnavox into it.

To record cable, plug composite (yellow/red/white) from the cable box into the Magnavox inputs. There is a row of white, red, then yellow inputs on the back labeled IN which you should use.

This will allow you to record composite video cable television content in standard definition on your DVDR/VCR unit.

So how many cables will i need? Just one yellow/red/white one? Also other then the HDMI cable to the receiver no composite cables go to the receiver?

No composite video with analog audio to or from the receiver, that would be pointless. The only thing you can record is cable TV, so hook your cable box up directly to your DVD/VCR with a composite & analog audio cable. You just need one.

The receiver would only get HDMI feeds from the rest of your sources.
