Adding a turntable to my Home Theater

Just kind of doing my homework before hand, but what does it take to hook-up a turntable to my Denon AVR-1912? From what I've been reading it sounds like there is no Phono hook up on the AVR and that I would need to purchase and install a seperate amp for the turntable?

What you need is a phono preamp, such as an Audio Technica AT-PEQ3. If you to plug in a turntable's audio cables into it, you can then connect it to any unused audio input plugs on your receiver.

This assumes your turntable has a moving magnet pickup cartridge, and not a moving coil cartridge. The moving magnet type are less expensive and more commonly used.

If you're doing occasional listening and aren't too critical, these will do quite nicely

http://www.rega.co.uk/index2.htm (please note..its the RP1 and not just the P1) The P1 was a POS withoit of round MDF platters and speed stability issues.

These are great entry level tables. However, you maybe limited to cartidge choice on the ProJect on the Debut line of tables as the tone arm is NOT adjustable. You would have to move to the next model line up called the XPression. I don't know if the same holds true for the Rega RP1.

Like Swerd mentioned, you'll need a phono preamp like he suggested. ProJect also carries phono pre-amps
