Adding a Sub in Zone 2

Not sure why manufacturers don't just add a separate sub input for zone 2.....seems like a no brainer. I have an older Denon AVR 3313 CI. Running a 5.1 setup for my HT sound. Setting up Zone 2 for my living room. No obvious way to setup a sub on zone 2. Have a RSL Speedwoofer ready to go but have no clue on how to set it up. It does not have speaker in/speaker out. Only has speaker level in....RCA In/Out. RSL manual says I can hook sub and speakers together to the amp, but I have read that this can cause a problem with the sub being out of phase. Sub does have an adjustable phase knob. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just run the sub off of the zone2 preouts and use the subs crossover
FWIW some avrs do have sub preout for zone 2

I am assuming you are talking about a RCA pre out on the amp to the RCA in on the Sub?. No zone 2 sub pre out, confirmed with Denon. They would not give me any alternatives.

If you use the "RCA" zone2 pre to the sub, just use the subs crossover and your good.

Just a thought, as you have 2 Sub outs on the Denon AVR 3313 CI; why not get the Speedwoofer 10S’s wireless option, and connect it to Sub2?

I don't know if your 3313 allows you to play different sources on Zone 2; and if so have Sub2 pick up that material. That may be a concern if you like to have different sound in each zone.

If you're using a separate amp for zone 2 use the rca in/outs in between avr and amp. If you're using the avr's amps just use the speaker level inputs. Either way you won't be completely in phase because you're still going to have the sub's amp processing time to take into account....

ps You could use separate dsp (like minidsp or the new Dayton box) with the separate amp setup to dial in delay.
