Adding a speaker to run simultaneously with television speakers

Hello,

I'm currently trying to figure out if its possible to add a bluetooth speaker that I can turn on/off at the speaker without effecting the television speakers. Currently if I plug into the 3.5, it turns off the tv speakers and if I attach a bluetooth transmitter to an hdmi port or rca jack, I have to use the remote to change the settings. would optical work? or possibly use a splitter and an audio in plus the bluetooth transmitter, so I can just change setting once. Help!!

What is it about the TV's speakers that you find so appealing, or difficult to relinquish?

To fit my family dynamic. Its an open kitchen and dining area design, with the tv furthest away from the cooking area. This is my moms "domain" and she uses the tv the most, but 2 issues. One, is that it is also the gathering place for everyone, Very common to have people visiting at the table and MoM in and out of the kitchen/cooking area. She can hear the tv, so either misses stuff, or has to turn it very loud, affecting the table sitters. I would like the tv volume to stay the same and she can go in and out and just adjust the speaker on the kitchen counter without changing the television speakers at all.

I am pretty sure you are going to have noticeable delay in sound using the tv speaker and an auxiliary amp source. I have my cable box rca into my receiver that has a zone 2, I have the kitchen wired left and right sound through zone 2 for the same reason you want to put a speaker in your kitchen. I have a couple millisecond delay into the second zone. I would imagine that a blue tooth will be longer delay than what I have. My solution is to turn up the sound for the living/great room surround so you hear the tv fine in the kitchen.
