I was told years ago when I bought this (like 20) to run the A speaker output into the Adcom and do nothing with the B speakers,
Is that correct??
Seems like your wasting power to me?
So here is my rec room set up, Yamaha RX-V2095, A speakers into the Adcom and then two sets of speakers on the patio and one set in the rec room, I was thinking of adding an external amp when running all 3 sets at once but its also rare that I run all 3 sets at once also, maybe twice a year, so, is this setup correct or can I do better?

A and B aren't different pairs of amplifier channels, the switch is an 'either/or' option connected to the amplifier's output, for using more than one pair of speakers at different times or if you prefer one for some types of music and the different pair for other music. Some switches have an A+B setting, but the amplifier's design determines whether the speakers would be series or parallel.

If you want the highest output from the system, yes- use a separate amp for the odd pair.
