ADC SS-525X Auto EQ

I just got this sort of loaned to me kind of indefinitely from my new very best friend. So the first thing I did with it is put it in line with my analog outs from my DVD player. (All gear listed in sig) I calibrated the left and right levels to be @ 74 dB independently with my rec'r volume set at -15. Then I auto EQ'ed the left and right channels independently for a flat response. My rec'r is set to surround off + DSP. That allows me to cross the speakers @ 80 Hz and have the sub pick up the rest.

Incredible is all I have to say. I'm looking to get a Behringer DCX 2496 or two for the big picture down the road (meaning that I am currently lusting after it) because I believe the things that I have read here at AH. This ADC EQ is here now and I'm blown away. I know everybody says it but I heard things I had not heard before in some music that I like.

If anybody has any tips, tricks, things to watch out for or links on things to read please post away. I'm just learning the ropes with it. Don't be scared to post a negative comment. It's all good.

Condensor Microphone

This EQ came with a mic that I'm a little suspicious of. The manual talks about how the mic and EQ have the same serial number so I assume they are matched but this mic could be 20 years old and it's been around kids, smokers and dogs.

What are my options with testing, re-calibration, or maybe just replacement?

Good luck finding the mic for it. I lucked out and bought one with the remote and have been searching for a mic for 5 years. But mic or not....the 525X is the best ADC Ive tried. I was using the SS-3 IC's and SS-3 MkII's until I stumbled onto the SS-525X....I LOVE IT.

The eBay auction says he is also selling a mic that is used with that thing. It sounds scary and complicated like the REW and calibrated mic that I have but haven't got around to using. Hold me Scott, I'm scared.
