Holy Crap! SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS!

A 27" LCD + a piece of mirror pane (one-way mirror) plus full labor for install by someone else would likely only run 3 or 4 grand. Take off a grand if you are installing it yourself!

Sounds like a good tutorial to have...

Anyone have an LCD they will ship me so I can mount it in my bathroom? I've got the perfect spot already picked out. :)

I think you mean elegant not eloquent. Eloquent means someone who is a powerful, fluent and articulate speaker. It is an adjective that you would not apply to a certain US president!

That's what I was thinking...did a search for one-way mirrors and they run a few hundred for the right size. It should be also possible to do it with a standard tube TV....right?

James I can think of a few adjectives that do apply but our rules forbid us to discuss politics ;)

Possible? Heck, I've done it no less than half a dozen times with tube type televisions to great success.

I've also done it with a 60 inch plasma. Lots of fun figuring out good ventilation for that sucker.

Well that settles it...Looks like I have another project! :D And the Idea came from the wife! Another question for ya BMX...Is there a brightness loss being behind a one-way mirror?

I notice that "truthful" is not in the definition, the only reason you could use it do describe a certain former US President....

Yes, there most definitely is. And, if there is a LOT of light in the room, like in bathrooms, it can still reflect off the glass of the mirro making things tough to see. In any room where there isn't as much light, or there is some light control, there really aren't major issues with light loss. But, I would NEVER do a 42" plasma behind one - a sub 30" LCD is about all I would do, and only in the bathroom where aesthetics and moisture protection are really important. In the bedroom, the TV can hang on the wall.
