Most big retail stores sell Acoustic Research, Like Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Meijer, etc. I don't own any, but they seem pretty solid. I know others use them without problems.

What tests would you lek to have been performed on those cables? In the end, it will give you numbers falling between the worst measuring and best measuring. They are still transparent cables.

i was just wondering because ive never seen them tested on their cable tests so i thought maybe there not worth the test. they went out of business, that sux.

se7en...

Electronic stores in my area also seem to have only Monster and AR cabling. I recently bought a AR component video cable - it was 50% of the Monster price - and, while I did not take the cable apart, the build quality seems solid and the performance is just fine. I use it for my DVD connection and can't believe the Monster cable, at twice the price could provide a better picture.

Don't know if AR has gone out of business or not, their web site is still up, but if your retailer still has stock, I think they certainly are a better value than the comparable Monster product.

They are fine. Also check out Radio Shack. Radio Shack also sells Monster, but don't buy them, nothing to gained. Radio Shack, AR and Monster all will function exactly the same.

I've had good experiences using A/R Cables. They seem to me a good product for the price. Last time I was at Best Buy, they were still selling them.

I was looking for some component video cable and found some AR Master series for $10 at my local surplus store (regular $60 at other stores). I bought some and was very impressed by the build quality compared to the Radio Shack branded stuff I had before.

I would choose this stuff over Monster anyday, there is no reason to spend more than this.

However, I found the Philips PXT line of cables sold at Walmart to be a better deal. Practically as well made as the more expensive AR cables.

I think the Master Series speaker wire was included in the second cable wars article. they didn't like the design but didn't seem to have any bad measurements. be careful who you buy them from. accessories4less is a pretty reputable on-line dealer but places like mooseco on e-bay are rip-off specialists.
