Acoustech HT-63 surround placement

Hello everyone,

I have been a lurker here for quite a wile now and decided to register today to ask this question.

The question is, I recieved my acoustech HT-63 speakers yesterday and I am trying to figure out what is the best way to place them in the room. The speakers they are replacing are the Fluance bipoler surrounds which were mounted on the side walls directly to the sides of my couch about 3 feet above my head when seated and about four feet from the back wall.

The layout on the Acoustechs are a little different from the Fluance so I am trying to figure out if I should have the horn firing towards the front of the room or towards the back of the room reflecting off the back wall or possibly some other way I have not thought of. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

One more thing. Does anyone elses wife think they are totally insane? :)

Cheers,
Bemuse

Just a quick question, I have been contemplating on either the Fluance Di-poles or the Bic HT-63's. Have you heard a major difference in sound quality? If you could give me a quick review of both, I would appreciate it. Oh yea, my wife does think I am insane. Almost everyday she is comparing how much money I spend on my theatre but in defense I grill her on ALL of the money she spends on shoes and purses, but as far as resale value I have her beat.

Well I would say that while the Fluance speakers are great speakers for the money, there really is no comparison between the two. I think the sound quality on the HT-63's are great and the look of these speakers are just as good. And since I also bought the Acoustech center and front left and right speakers, the rears are a better match than the Fluance would be. I would say if you're going to get new surrounds, go ahead and pay the extra 80 or so bucks, it will be worth it.

Don't know if this was a typo on your part or not, but the Fluance surrounds are bipoles not dipoles. :D
