Hi there.

I have a Yamaha rx-v681 receiver in my bedroom and want to have my living room as zone 2. Do you think AA can be used in my zone 2? I want to have a good sound experience for our visitors without using a separate system or a sub.

I hadn't considered the first option. But I meant The Philharmonic's :-D.

According to what I've read, those would be a good option since they have a good bass

I've built a BR-1 kit they're based on, decent bass but I still use a sub with mine. For a second zone should be fine.

I picked up a set of AAs for my kids and put them through their paces in my system first. They're a pretty darn good value. Bass is deep enough that you can get away without a sub, depending on what your preference is.

If you were feeling froggy, you could likely get the info and a kit from Dennis to upgrade.

I bought a set of the crossovers from Dennis later, but glued the ones I put together too well to remove from the BR-1s :) I have the drivers to eventually build my own with the new crossovers later....

ps Don't think that would alleviate me from wanting to use subs as the xover wouldn't change that....

yep. Bought a pair of used speakers and the x-over was mounted with liquid nails. that stuff was a PITA to get out, but I managed to get it; basically had to chisel it out.

I didn't know you've had your hands on a set. My buddy was getting a sound bar and I talked him into ordering a pair yesterday. I guess Dennis is going on vacation soon and wasn't sure if he'd get them finished before he goes, but would do his best to try.

I've been pitching the AA's to 2 of my friends. Neither of them are audiophiles, though that may be changing for my friend (Mike) here in az. He's pretty blown away by my system and asked if I wanted to sell my old receiver. A Denon X1200W. I let him have it for $175.

I hope I'm not over selling them. I've never heard them so I don't know what they'd be compared to. Both of my friends think 210 plus shipping is a lot of money for speakers. I don't think I've told hem what I've spent total for mine.

I've had a lot of people squirm when I tell them how much a decent subwoofer costs. o_O

$210 isn't a lot comparatively, but I can see it being a lot. It is a lot to my kids, which is why I bought them for them. I wrote up my review. I like them a lot. I'd use them for my bedroom if they were smaller. My kids are very happy with them.
