A320 Crash in France

Its always sad to see people lose loved ones whenever there is an accident like this. I'm very curious to find out what cause this aircraft to go down. The blackboxes were recovered but are damaged.

You & me both. I hope the black box damage isn't too great.

After all the recent terrorism, some of the unexplained actions of this airliner are worrisome.

It clearly didn't explode while in the air, but it did descend rather quickly. The pilots never communicated to the ground about trouble. And the airplane never altered it's flight path once it started to descend.

If there was mechanical trouble, a mayday call and diversion to the nearest available airfield would be expected. Also, it apparently is standard practice, once a plane cannot maintain it's assigned altitude, to alter it's path to avoid other air traffic.

Was the plane highjacked by suicidal terrorists?

From this, its beginning to look like a hijacking. I find the simple fact that there was no comms between the pilots and ATC on an altitude change highly suspicious.

Interesting event captured on the voice recorder. One the pilots wasn't able to get back into the cabin. Why was he locked out?

We can only guess it was suicide. We probably will never know, unless a suicide note is found.

Yesterday, I was wondering why the French investigators hadn't said anything more about the cockpit voice recorder after announcing it had been found. I imagine it quickly became obvious after they listened to the ~30 minutes of the flight. It may have taken the rest of the day to communicate with the various airline and German authorities and get them on board before they announced it this morning. It must have been awful when they realized what happened.

When someone takes 150 or so others it's a case of mass murder.

We can only speculate as to the reason for his wanting to take others with him. Let's hope his reasons are made known soon.

Still looking – found nothing. No other mention of Andreas Lubitz and Islam. In fact, there are news reports saying quite the opposite:

'Prosecutors in the western city of Duesseldorf said they seized medical documents from the home of Andreas Lubitz that indicate "an existing illness and appropriate medical treatment."

Prosecutor Ralf Herrenbrueck said in a statement Friday that torn-up sick notes for the day of the crash "support the current preliminary assessment that the deceased hid his illness from his employer and colleagues."

He said the search of Lubitz's home revealed no suicide note or evidence of any political or religious motivation for his actions.'

From what I've read, the source of the claim that he was a recent convert to Islam isn't considered very credibile. That said, I'm surprised that the "Usual Suspects" haven't claimed responsibility anyway. Think about it - they have nothing to lose by taking "credit" for it.

My high school psych teacher said that suicidal people sometimes wanna go but don't want to go alone.
