A2-300 vs vft-1

These two subs seem to fit my price range. They also are the proper size for i have a limited amount of space where i will be replacing me old sub. Both are about 419 a piece. These sub are for 100% ht/tv duty. I like the rear port design a little better (have a 3 year old) on the vft but the a2-300 has a 12" driver which one is better for ht, is the a2-300 going to hit that much lower as well as have more extension? Both are sized for my room. The fv12 is going to just be too expensive when shipping is factored in. I do like the fv12 a ton! I have some reservation about the a2-300 because of the amp issues that elemental has had in the past with other models. Plus I don't know the quality of there amps compared to the bash used on HSU eD uses a class D. Let me know what you guys think

I'm not entirely sure all of eD's amp problems are behind them. There's a lot of activity on avsforum.com that indicates they have some current issues as well. Caveat emptor.

A couple of other options that spring to mind immediately are...
Emotiva X-Ref 10
BIC H-100 and F12
Cadence CSX-12
Polk PSW 505
Premier Acoustic PA-120 or PA-150 even.

These represent a good cross section of options: 10", 12" and 15" drivers, large and small enclosures, bass reflex and acoustic suspension. If none of these work you can check out a budget subwoofers thread I maintain. It's for subs that can be purchased for $300 or less, so it might be below the target you're looking for, but there are a few solid options listed their.

I have only heard issues with eDs their higher end amps nothing on the A2-300

I ended up passing on both. The VFT-1 lacks the low (below 25hz). And the A2-300 isnt know for its accuracy. Now I hate to pass judgement on these subs without a listen but overwhelming comments and others here and elsewhere have commented on these to. The VFT-1 is solid but lacks that bottom end. I dont know if I trust eD rating either. Seems a little optimistic in my opinion at that price as well..but then again the port might be tuned around that Hz so who knows. But I am certain about the accuracy and tightness...many have said it is a good sub not great and is not as precise. I think the Epik Legend or FV12 are better choices for a few bucks more. Since I live close to Epik I am picking up the sub so no shipping making this sub only $80 bucks more than the A2-300. I am not as concerned about tons of output...I actually hate it that people are sooo concerned with tons of output. I want a blend of both low end and output. I would like a sub to hit 20hz within a reasonable SPL so that everything in the house doesnt come lose or the neighbors know what and when I am watching. I am mostly concerned with tightness, accuracy but with the low end hz...something snappy (responsive) without the muddy boomy crap. The Epik might have just found this for me...but the FV12 certainly get a ton of praises here and pretty much everywhere as being all of thee above and more! We will see!
