A/V Receiver Recommendations

Hi all,

Relative noob here, getting a first set up. I have a pair of Klipsch rp-8000f and an spl-120 sub. I will eventually want to add at least a center channel as well. I am looking to get an A/V receiver for primarily listening to music (electronic, latin, classical) and watching movies. Klipsch website says any receiver or amplifier that delivers right around 150W per channel at 8 Ohms with full frequency bandwidth (20Hz - 20,000Hz) would be a good match but I am not seeing a ton of receivers that deliver that much wattage. Any recommendations? Budget is ideally in the 300-600 range. Thanks!

150 watts into those speakers would cause serious hearing damage in most rooms.

The spec on the Klipsch site is about the MAX power handling.

You can reach reference level with those speakers with under 50 watts per channel.

So just about ANY AVR is going to work.

In your price range, Denon and Marantz don't offer their best room correction, so I would look at Yamaha which offers their top end room correction on at least one of their 500 dollar units (which, ironically, is sold at costco under a slightly different product number for $400 and goes on sale for $330 from time to time, and sounds great).
