A/V receiver recommendation?

Audioholic Intern
Hi

I'm looking for an A/V receiver that will eventually serve as a pre-amp (perhaps to the Emotiva XPA-2) in the future.

I'd like the receiver to have
- HDMI 1.4a
- Pre-amp outputs (obviously)
- DLNA networking capability
- Phono input

I've been looking at some options, and it seems like the Onkyo HT-RC270 provides all these features. Having networking enables me to stream music from a computer on the home network, having pre-outs enables me to add greater power to the main channels, and HDMI 1.4a gives me the ability to use the audio return channel - don't have all the gear to use this functionality yet, but am planning to get it in time and am hoping to stave off the urge to upgrade for some time (ha!)

Just wondering if the Onkyo is a good bet? I've heard the customer service is difficult to deal with, and some have had issues with Onkyo product quality. Is there some truth to this, or am I letting the negative opinions of a few affect my perception?

Also, is there another recommendation in roughly this price range? (I see the Onkyo for around $530 on Newegg).

Thanks.
